No extension to General Data Protection Regulation deadline: In a speech introducing the Governments ‘Digital Charter’ Matthew Hancock, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has urged businesses to prepare for implementation of the General Data protection requirements by the 25th May deadline, highlighting the sources of advice available. Advertising complaints upheld for lack of substantiation of previous prices for goods and services: The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld cases against ‘Groupon’ and ‘Service Stop’ for failure to demonstrate that the prices from which reductions were claimed were the ‘normal prices’  View >

Industry guidance on comparative nutrition claims: The Food and Drinks Federation has produced detailed guidance to help businesses comply with the EU rules for making nutritional claims on foodstuffs. An equivocal forward from the Department of Health has been included in the ‘only the courts can decide’ mode. View >
