Important Updates

Target of 20% calorie reduction in children’s food within 5 years set: Public Health England has challenged the Food Industry to achieve the target which applies to children’s calorie intakes from pizzas, ready meals, ready-made sandwiches, meat products and savoury snacks by recipe change, reducing portion sizes and encouraging purchase of lower calorie products. The focus on calorie intake has been welcomed by the Food and Drink Federation. View >


First Government backed Code of Practice on product recalls: The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Office for Product Safety and Standards has welcomed publication of a new code of practice on Non- food product recalls and safety.  The code provides guidance to businesses on monitoring of products, traceability, risk assessment and undertaking recalls and other corrective actions. View >


Research and guidance published on ‘reference pricing’: The Advertising Standards Authority has published research that it commissioned on consumer understanding of price comparisons and resulting advice. View >

Destination of repatriated powers remains under dispute: 
The Department for exiting the EU has published a detailed analysis of the repatriation options for 153 separate areas of law.
