Facebook posts by Gin Society ruled to be ‘Commercial Communications’: The Advertising Standards Authority has ruled that a series of Facebook posts by the Scottish Gin Society highlighting the properties of gin including one comparing gin to the energy content of a banana are ‘commercial communications’ and thus fall within the ambit of the Nutrition and Health Claims Regulation and the advertising code restrictions on the promotion of alcohol. Food Standards Agency consult on retention of EU food law: The Food Standards Agency (whose remit covers England and Wales) has issued a consultation on future risk management and risk assessment functions post Brexit to replace roles performed by EFSA and the European Commission – Closing date 14th October.
