FSA recommends full ingredients listing for foods prepacked for direct sale: Following a board meeting to discuss its approach to the DEFRA consultation on allergen labelling, the Food Standards Agency has decided that full ingredients listing for all products placed in packaging before being displayed for sale to the customer is the best option. View >

DEFRA call for businesses to step up to the plate on reducing food waste:
The Department for Food and Rural Affairs has called on nearly 300 major food businesses that generate food waste to sign a pledge to reduce waste by 50% by 2030 and to measure, report and act on food waste in 2019. The initiative has the support of the Food and Drink Federation, the Institute of Grocery Distribution and the DEFRA Waste and Resources Action programme.  View >  Defra is also investing £4m in supporting food waste reduction initiatives. View >

20p set as deposit for Scottish Deposit Return Scheme for drinks containers: 
The Scottish Government has announced that 20p will be the deposit required to be paid on purchase of any aluminium, steel, PET or glass drinks container under its proposed deposit return scheme.
