EU Council members adopt conclusions re. EU/UK future relationship negotiations: In a statement issued on 25 June the Council of Ministers took note of the UK government decision not to request and its intention to refuse an extension of the transition period foreseen in the Withdrawal Agreement, meaning that the transition period will end on 31 December 2020. The Council restated EU determination to have as close as possible a partnership with the UK in the future, in line with the Political Declaration.
