DWF boosts corporate practice in Singapore

21 November 2019
Singapore
DWF, the global legal business, announces two major milestones in its Asia-Pacific expansion with the appointment of Ben Constance as the managing partner in Singapore and Nasir Dao – PKM Abdul as a corporate partner.

Ben Constance joined DWF's Singapore office in January 2019 with a focus on cross-border M&A, joint ventures, private equity and corporate technology. In his new role, Ben has been tasked with growing the business organically in Southeast Asia and defining the strategy of the Singapore office moving forward.

Nasir Dao – PKM Abdul is a corporate and M&A specialist with over 20 years' experience of advising and representing international clients. Nasir joins DWF from PwC Legal. Nasir has advised clients on cross border transactions across a wide spectrum of industries –including advertising, automotive, design, energy and renewables, financial services, food and agribusiness, heavy industries, hotel and hospitality, manufacturing and processing, media and technology, mining and infrastructure, oil and gas, pharmaceutical and healthcare, real estate and construction, retail and distribution, telecommunications, and transport and logistics. His Southeast Asian practice spans private equity investments, private and public M&A, joint ventures and general corporate, investment and commercial matters.

In addition to his corporate experience, Nasir has significant expertise as a dispute lawyer.  He has acted for corporations in various contractual and commercial matters, including international and Vietnamese arbitration proceedings. At DWF, Nasir will provide significant bench strength to the existing offering which centres around a broad range of corporate transactions. Nasir speaks English, French and Vietnamese.

Stefan Paciorek, DWF's CEO International comments: "I am confident that we have made two positive appointments for our regional growth story. Both Ben and Nasir have significant credentials, not just in their respective areas of practice, but in leading strong international teams and working on the operational side of the business. Both are the right fit for Singapore as we embark in the next stage of our expansion in the region”.

Ben said: "Not only am I very pleased to have the opportunity to lead expansion efforts in Singapore and Southeast Asia, but I am delighted to be welcoming Nasir onboard. His expertise is recognised across the region and particularly as a market leader in the corporate practice area for Vietnam. His skill set and credentials tie in perfectly with DWF’s strategy for the region.

Nasir added: "DWF has a growing reputation for its corporate services in an increasingly diverse and global market. The legal business is perfectly placed for me to build on this existing platform.

Following the launch of DWF's Singapore office in July 2017 with a four-lawyer team from Eversheds, the practice has developed considerably across various practice areas. The team works largely with clients focused at a regional and global level and offers considerable experience in corporate, technology and fintech, energy, insurance, construction and disputes.
