DWF comments on Boris Johnson's 10-point plan for Net Zero
17 November 2020
Darren Walsh, Head of Power at global legal business, DWF, responds to the Prime Minister's announcement on his 10 Point Plan. He said:
"We are encouraged by Boris Johnson's 10 Point Plan announced [this evening]. Many of our businesses are focused on striving to meet and exceed our net zero carbon commitments by 2050 and sooner; wherever possible. Having a clear strategy focused on the development of the nascent hydrogen market with a clear emphasis on green hydrogen will be key to this. Hydrogen is by no means the panacea to net zero carbon, but it must play a key part in the UK's strategy with a focus on addressing domestic and commercial sources of heating; as well as the transport sector. Businesses must now use this Plan set out by the Government to search out innovative solutions to go green."
The Lord Chancellor has today released the new Personal Injury Discount Rate of 0.5%. The rate many expected, but reached by a different methodology. Mike Renshaw provides an analysis.
DWF, the global provider of integrated legal and business services, has announced the new entry of Antonio Ferri as a partner in the Corporate M&A department of DWF Italy, led by Luca Cuomo.
During COP22 in 2016, when Donald Trump first became President Elect, there were 180 gigawatts of clean energy in the world compared to today’s 600 gigawatts, and 700,000 electric vehicles compared to the current 14 million. This timeframe of just eight years highlights a huge societal shift in attitudes towards carbon production and emissions. Whilst further, faster action in renewables is critically needed to address the climate crisis, the low carbon transition also presents an opportunity for organisations to create a better and safer world for everyone.
