DWF advises on EE's innovative new studio store in Westfield London, White City

05 July 2023

DWF's real estate team advised EE on the acquisition of its new flagship store and the UK’s largest telco retail space, The EE Studio at Westfield London, White City.

The visionary new flagship store gives customers a unique physical and digital experience, guiding visitors through every stage of their connected lives. Features include the UK's first Digital Spa where customers can relax and reconnect, a Gaming Zone with elite gaming rigs and the most up to date games and consoles, The Stage which is an ever-evolving hub for events and pop-ups, and the latest connected home technology.

The launch of the new store is part of EE's new retail strategy which seeks to reinvent the role of retail in the telecoms industry and firmly places innovation, personal experience and community front and centre. The Studio leads the way for the roll out of the new Experience stores, the first of which are due to open in Manchester Trafford Centre, Cardiff and Bluewater in the coming months, bringing technology to life for customers up and down the country.

DWF's real estate team has been working with EE for a number of years, forming part of the strategic partnership the global legal business has with BT. Naveen Gupta, Partner, and Greg Wood, Associate, led on the deal and were thrilled to help enable the launch of this innovative retail experience.  Naveen Gupta, Partner, said, "It is always exciting to be part of something fresh and innovative when it comes to retail property – there is still a place for bricks and mortar retail but with a need for it to align with the digital age. EE's new space perfectly fits that bill and we were delighted to lead on the legal aspects and form part of the client's wider acquisition team to get this store opened. "

Janet Peto, Retail Property Estate Manager at EE said, "This was an important and strategic acquisition for EE and it required our internal and external team to work collaboratively to achieve the end goal. DWF were very much part of that team and their support throughout the transaction was fantastic".
