DWF has more than 40 years of experience in the sector, supporting sports organisations, governing bodies, international athletes, broadcasters and related businesses across a broad range of sports, as well as advising on the hosting of major global sporting events. This move to bring together all of DWF's sports expertise into a focused sector team will enable the firm to build its relationships with existing and new clients.
Toby Askin has been with DWF for more than 11 years and most recently led the firm's Real Estate practice area. He has more than 20 years of experience in real estate development and investment and has also advised on joint venture and partnership arrangements, including the redevelopment of sports stadia and work with local authorities on strategic regeneration schemes.
Commenting on his appointment, Toby said: "I am delighted to have been appointed to lead DWF’s new sports sector and am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. In this fast-paced environment, sports organisations, athletes, and stakeholders face complex layers of regulations, commercial pressures, and public expectations. From negotiating multi-million-pound contracts and safeguarding valuable intellectual property to navigating intricate governance structures and managing high-stakes disputes and injury claims, the legal needs of the sports world are as diverse as they are demanding."
