Natascha Gaut is a director within the Global Regulatory, Compliance and Investigations team. Her practice focuses on corporate criminal defence work, crisis management and regulatory compliance, mainly working with clients based within the food, retail and hospitality sectors.

Experience

Natascha specialises in food safety, consumer products, water regulatory, environment, and health and safety. She is a solicitor advocate with rights of audience in the Higher Criminal Courts and can therefore advise organisations during criminal and regulatory investigations, providing representation from the initial interview with the regulator through to Crown Court.

Natascha regularly advises clients on technical food safety matters including: allergen management, food labelling, food hygiene control systems, pest control, unsafe and substandard food, use-by-date offences and other enforcement issues. Natascha also regularly provides international packaging and labelling advice to companies to enable them to successfully bring new products to market.

Natascha is frequently instructed to advise clients following fatal and serious workplace incidents, assisting clients with the initial accident investigation process and the management of post-incident actions.

Natascha is also experienced in both prosecuting and defending cases brought under environmental legislation, such as the Water Industry Act 1991 and the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations. Natascha advises on a range of matters including; water pollution and contamination offences, illegal water fittings, permitting issues and warrant of entry applications.

Natascha has also spoken at various specialist industry conferences including the IOSH Food and Drink Manufacturing Health and Safety Conference, the UK Hospitality Food Safety Seminar and UKELA.
