Retail, Food, and Hospitality Regulatory Update W/E 8th March

09 March 2020
Retail, Food & Hospitality Regulatory Update W/E 8th March. Rulings on alcohol product labels, Clothing poster ruled to have ‘objectified’ women.

Important Updates

Rulings on alcohol product labels: The Portman group has issued rulings on compliance with its code in respect of four products: Keller Pils, Running with Scepters, Lawless and Orangjeboom 8.5% extra strong. Running with Scepters was found in breach because of the use of cartoon imagery on its packaging that could be attractive to children. Lawless was found in breach as it potentially associated alcohol with illegal behaviour. Orangjeboom 8.5% extra strong was found in breach due to over emphasis of the alcohol content which could lead in the view of the independent complaints panel to immoderate consumption. The Portman group has issued a retailer alert bulletin in respect of ‘Running with Scepters’. The group has also published information on its policy in the use of retailer alert bulletins and that retailers may find themselves in breach of licensing conditions should they not act on them in ceasing to supply the products highlighted.
