Brexit Developments

UK Internal Market Bill: On 14 September the Prime Minister made a speech in opening the second reading debate on the Bill explaining why it was being brought before parliament. On 17 September the government published a statement on the circumstances in which the ‘notwithstanding’ clauses in the Bill might be used. The Finance Ministers of the devolved administrations have written jointly to the Prime Minister setting out their ‘deep concerns’. MPs considered the Bill at Second Reading on Monday 14 September 2020. The Bill is now being considered in Committee of the Whole House which is next due to sit on Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 September 2020. View > View > View > View > View > View >

Consultation launched on future food law in Northern Ireland:
The Food Standards Agency has launched a consultation on the proposed approach to domestic legislation relating to food and feed safety and hygiene, food compositional standards and food labelling (including nutrition labelling) in Northern Ireland following the end of the transition period. Responses are required by 14 October. View >
