DWF bolsters its Italian MA presence with new partner hire

05 June 2018
International legal business DWF has appointed corporate partner Giovanni Cucchiarato to its Milan office.

Giovanni specialises in mergers and acquisitions and also plans to establish a FinTech practice in the Milan office. Through assisting numerous international clients in the development of their business in Italy, Giovanni has developed a specific expertise in advising companies operating in the field of innovation. This includes crowdfunding portals and other companies connected to the world of FinTech. He has a particular focus on alternative financing instruments and on the regulation of equity crowdfunding, themes on which he has published several articles and is regularly invited to speak at conferences and industry events.

Giovanni, who joins from Jenny Avvocati, spent the early years of his career working in Germany and as a result he specialises in acquisition operations in Italy by clients from German-speaking countries. This particular skill made it possible for him to obtain the ranking of a "Foreign expert for Germany" in the 2017 and 2018 Chambers and Partners Global guides. He has also been recognised in the 2018 Chambers Europe guide, within the "Corporate/ M&A" category.

Michele Cicchetti, Managing Partner of DWF Italy, said: "The addition of Giovanni Cucchiarato allows us to further strengthen our M&A department, focusing in particular on the acquisition of new clients from Germany, where DWF already has an important presence. Furthermore, Giovanni's expertise in FinTech will allow us to present ourselves as one of the key law firms in the Italian market in this particular practice, which we are certain has interesting potential for development in the future."

Giovanni Cucchiarato added: "Joining DWF Italy, where I have been welcomed by a team of ambitious colleagues, is certainly a welcome challenge. This is a unique opportunity that allows me to be part of building the FinTech practice from its initial phase and adding my years of experience to the office's already established M&A offering."
