Experience
Mary regularly acts for professionals (architects, engineers, assigned certifiers, solicitors, brokers, financial advisors, estate agents, surveyors) and their insurers in a broad range of claims. She also provides coverage advice to insurers on policy response issues and has considerable experience in claims investigation in liaising with both insurers and the insured on cost-effective claims management. Mary acts as a panel defence solicitor for insurer professional indemnity schemes writing in both Ireland and UK.
Mary's area of particular expertise is in defending professional indemnity claims on behalf of architects, engineers, surveyors, construction consultants and their professional indemnity insurers. Her experience lies in carrying out an early technical overview and analysis of a claim to determine a strategy to provide insurers with an early resolution of matters which aims to limit costs escalation. This all while managing and being sensitive to the tensions and relations between insurers, brokers and insureds throughout the life of the claim.
She also has significant experience in other forms of dispute resolution, including without prejudice negotiations, conciliation, mediation and arbitration. Mary has been recommended in Legal 500 EMEA 2019 for Construction.
