Key take away this week

In the words of the House of Commons Library, the Brexit timetable is: One promise. Two weeks. Three key votes.  In a little over 3 weeks we are due to leave the EU, yet the deal (or a revised version), a short extension to Article 50 and exiting with no-deal all are still on the table and could be voted on by Parliament in the next two weeks. Things remain hideously unclear.

Last week we provided a link to some of the relevant draft legislation that will need to be in force in order for things to legally work after Brexit. The sheer scale of the work is huge and there is much remaining to be completed, though the time available is tight. 


While it is still hard to predict what the end of the month's outcome will be, it remains wise to be hedged and expecting disruption and as prepared as possible for all scenarios. 


The number of guidance notes being published now is substantial. While on the one hand this is a positive trend, it is really too late in the process. Read on to find out more about the guidance offered for those who operate in the food, retail and hospitality sectors.
