Sports Day in aid of the DWF Foundation

09 August 2022

Amy Hamilton, a Solicitor in the Insurance Team of our Belfast office hosted a Sports Day, alongside the Sports and Social Committee, to help raise funds for the DWF Foundation. She has shared details about the event below, which not only assisted with raising funds for the DWF Foundation but also brought out everyone's competitive spirits!

Since joining DWF, I have had the idea of hosting a workplace sports day, and I was afforded the opportunity of organising same on 5th August 2022. The promise of a medal and trophy, alongside the fame of being called the Sports Day champions was enough to raise interest and nearly 50 people from the Belfast office attended to compete or spectate. It was an excellent opportunity to get away from our desks and race against each other in events which take us all back to our primary school days.

The event was held at Belfast Harlequins rugby club. All competitors were split into four teams, the Red, Blue Green and Yellow teams and all teams competed in a variety of events. We had dropped eggs from spoons, wonky wheelbarrows, sore hands from the tug of war and multiple cheating allegations! It was a great day for all those who attended and the red team were top of the leader board.

The day finished up with a delicious BBQ and a few cold drinks to reward the sporting efforts. A raffle was also held in order to raise money for the DWF Foundation, which supports so many great causes. The prizes on offer ranged from restaurant vouchers, gin and the most sought after coffee voucher for our local cafĂ© below our Belfast office.

There may have been a few sore legs from the following day, however the event not only allowed the Belfast team to get together out of the office but also assisted in fundraising efforts also.
