In September 2024 DWF acquired Australia’s premier claims management business, Proclaim. Founded in 1999 by Jon Broome and headquartered in Melbourne with a second office in Sydney, Proclaim has a team of over 60 specialists and has built a reputation for innovation and client-centric service in the London insurance market, delivering end-to-end claims management and adjusting solutions to brokers and insurers alike.
This transaction dramatically strengthened DWF’s integrated legal and business services offering in Australia and has boosted our global CMA team to 360 colleagues across nine jurisdictions. This acquisition not only deepens DWF’s presence in the world’s fourth-largest Lloyd’s market but also creates new opportunities to serve Proclaim’s corporate clients and to further invest in insurance-focused legal capabilities in Sydney, Melbourne and other key centres.
Proclaim Managing Director Jon Broome says: “After 25 years as a proudly independent Australian company, becoming a strategic part of DWF was a major step for us at Proclaim. Whilst we have embraced DWF life, we continue to operate as a distinct business with information barriers to remain independent from DWF’s legal practice. We also maintain our independence from any insurer or broking group. That said, moving from a company of 60 people to being part of a global organisation of over 5000 has brought new opportunities, broader support in areas such as compliance and systems, and the ability to share knowledge and expand capacity across the Group.
Our claims management businesses in the UK, Europe, Canada and the USA as well as in Australia have many strengths. By sharing experiences we can build depth and breadth of offering across the Group and deliver consistency in service to clients who may be new to us but long-standing with other parts of DWF. Proclaim has always grown alongside our clients, which aligns closely with DWF’s ethos. We are excited by the opportunities to contribute to and learn from the Group, enabling us to provide claims management services across all general insurance classes.
Added to that, DWF’s global legal services offering means where legal expertise is required, it is easily available to our team and can enhance our service, including in some cases where clients prefer a connected offering”.
