Experience

Grant is currently defending a firm of solicitors in three sets of interlinked High Court multi-party proceedings concerning international property investment schemes by more than 100 investors. He has previously acted for several firms of solicitors in multi-party litigation involving residential developments.

Grant is representing solicitors in respect of tax planning and the creation of a discretionary trust, including bringing a contribution claim against a third party. He has also acted for solicitors in defending nine claims concerning a form of equity release in residential conveyancing transactions and issues of alleged concealment.

Grant has acted for a construction company in a multi-party dispute about defects in the construction of a distribution warehouse, which involved a subsequent recovery claim against a sub-contractor. He has also defended architects and structural engineers.

Grant has dealt with all stages of the claim process from initial notification to resolution through proceedings and ADR. He has extensive trial and mediation experience.

  • Acted for a firm of solicitors at trial relating to alleged negligent conduct of litigation (2016) (unreported).
  • Successfully defended a large firm of regional solicitors at a fully contested High Court trial relating to alleged negligent planning advice: Gordons LLP v Paskauskas (2013).
  • Achieved a successful outcome at a fully contested High Court trial relating to losses arising from failure to serve the correct tenant counter-notice: (1) Lily Nahome & Ors v Last Cawthra Feather Solicitors [2010] EWHC 76 (Ch) (David Cooke HHJ) 29/1/2010.
  • Successfully defended a large firm of regional Chartered Surveyors at a fully contested High Court trial relating to alleged negligent advice on the sale of farm land: Reavleys v George F White & Ors (2007).
