Addressing domestic abuse as a workplace issue

01 August 2025

DWF have launched a Domestic Abuse Hub to provide resources and support for those impacted by this important issue and their colleagues.

DWF is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all employees. The Domestic Abuse Hub is part of a broader effort to create a supportive and inclusive workplace where all colleagues can thrive.

The hub was created in collaboration with the DWF Gender Network groups to provide a central repository of resources to help colleagues understand and address domestic abuse.

It includes detailed information on what constitutes domestic abuse, how to recognise the signs, and the steps to take if you or someone you know is affected.  Colleagues can access the Domestic Abuse Hub through the DWF intranet. The hub is designed to be a confidential and accessible resource, providing the necessary tools and information to support those in need.

The hub include five sections:

  • Understanding domestic abuse: Providing an overview of different kinds of abuse to raise awareness of the topics complexity including information on coercion, psychological and emotional abuse, sexual and physical abuse, financial control, harassment, and stalking as well as online and digital abuse.
  • Domestic abuse and the workplace: With information on how domestic abuse can impact a colleague's work life and how colleagues can support one another.
  • Domestic abuse support: Including reminders of the internal support and policies available, and external help that can be accessed. It also includes examples of adjustments that can be made to support those experiencing domestic abuse.
  • How to discuss domestic abuse: Quick tips on how to start a conversation with someone you are concerned might be experiencing domestic abuse.
  • Sharing experiences of domestic abuse: Creating safe spaces in which colleagues can share their thoughts and experiences to showcase role models and encourage an ongoing conversation to break end silence on the matter.

DWF understands that domestic abuse can impact every part of someone's life; family, physical and mental health, work, social, finances, housing etc., and can happen to anyone regardless of characteristics including gender, age, faith, culture, etc.

By providing comprehensive resources and support, DWF aims to create a safer and more inclusive environment for all.
