International legal business DWF has won the Innovation in Practice Award at the Scott & Legal Awards 2018, for the second year running.

DWF was recognised for its highly successful and market leading Counter Fraud Team, specifically in relation to the team's extensive work in leveraging data and profiling the Scottish Market and using intelligence to focus on the migration of organised fraud trends from England/Wales to Scotland.

The counter fraud team specifically focuses on the identification of fraud through a combination of legal expertise together with predictive analytics, profiling and intelligence consultants who analyse data, the market and drivers behind claims to look at emerging fraud threats. They then work with key Industry bodies and insurers to develop innovative counter-fraud strategies to combat these threats.

DWF also works in collaboration with key industry bodies and insurers to lobby the Government to influence legislative change in the fraud area.

Lorraine Carolan, National Head of Counter Fraud at DWF, commented on the win: "I am delighted that Jill Sinclair and her team have won this award for the second year running.  This is testament to the immense hard work put in by a unique multi-disciplinary team of lawyers and analysts, whose combined expertise has innovated the delivery of legal services in Scotland.  Combined with DWF's ethos of collaboration with key industry bodies and our insurance clients, we are really beginning to see a shakeup in the Scottish market and disruption of fraudsters".

Jill Sinclair, Head of Counter Fraud Scotland at DWF, added: "The combination of DWF's multi-disciplinary team and our continuous drive to collaborate with industry bodies such as ABI, IFED, IFB, Law Society of Scotland and Police Scotland  has been key to our success.  Winning this award for the second year is recognition of the truly innovative way DWF continue to challenge and disrupt fraudsters in Scotland."
