Experience
Prior to joining DWF she developed her professional skills working as a paralegal, and subsequently caseworker, in Housing Legal Aid. In the course of this she worked with vulnerable clients and their families to achieve the best possible outcome in the face of the threat of homelessness. This involved written and oral advocacy, drafting representations and communicating with professionals of all backgrounds.
Ellen has a strong academic background. After studying History at Undergraduate level, Ellen took a Law Conversion course and achieved a Distinction in her LLM in Law and Legal Practice, and then a further Distinction on the Barrister Training Course. Throughout her legal training Ellen was heavily involved in Pro Bono work, focusing on improving access to justice whilst developing her own professional and interpersonal skills.
Ellen is also a commissioned Officer in the British Army Reserves. Through this she continues to hone her leadership, management and communication styles to fit any scenario.
Outside of work, Ellen competes in CrossFit events in teams and as an individual, bakes enough to feed an army and reads anything she can get her hands on.
