Experience

Kate is a solicitor admitted to the Roll of England & Wales and the Republic of Ireland. Kate graduated from King's College in London and the Université Paris 1 La Sorbonne in Paris. Kate completed her legal training in London and subsequently joined the construction law team of one of Ireland's leading law firms in Dublin.

Kate's practice has focused predominantly on high value and complex transactional matters advising various parties such as developers, contractors, investors and funders. Kate has experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of construction contracts and ancillary agreements. Kate also advises on issues arising during construction, claims management and dispute resolution. Kate has a verstalie practice and her experience covers a wide range of industry sectors, including commercial and residential development, energy, agri food and leisure.

Kate also has experience in advising on health and safety law matters, particularly as it affects construction.

  • Advising a semi-state body on a range of infrastructure and other capital expansion projects at an airport, including the contract for the construction of a new runway.\
  • Advising a major developer/operator on the development of a significant holiday and leisure facility in Ireland. 
  • Advising various funders and developers in relation to a variety of developments across Dublin including office fit-outs and developments/re-developments, and various hotel and other commercial mixed-use developments (including the development of one of the tallest storeyed buildings in Ireland). 
  • Acting for a major dairy co-operative on the construction law aspects relating to the expansion of an existing dairy processing facility and the development of a new food production facility. 
  • Advising a German commercial bank on the development of a number of onshore windfarm projects in the Republic of Ireland.
  • Acting for a road operator client in relation to a contractual adjudication concerning a claim for design and construction defects in a motorway.  
  • Acting on behalf of an insurer client in the defence of a variety of claims brought in the Irish High Court against its insureds, including architects and firms of consulting engineers.
