Experience
Prior to qualification, Max managed a varied counter fraud caseload, including complex fraud rings and staged accident claims. After qualifying, and prior to joining DWF, he joined a leading national insurance law firm and developed a substantial oral and written advocacy practice as a member of an in house advocacy team. He completed his Higher Rights of Audience (Civil Proceedings) in 2025.Max specialises in civil litigation, with particular expertise in Road Traffic Accident (RTA) and Employers’ and Public Liability (EL/PL) matters. He has substantial experience conducting advocacy across a wide range of hearings including trials, interim applications, case and costs management conferences (CCMCs), costs hearings, and Stage 3 hearings.
His experience encompasses counter fraud, credit hire, motor liability, and casualty work, achieving consistent outcomes for clients, including strike outs, dismissals, and significant savings on quantum disputes. Max has also been instructed as an off panel advocate on behalf of the Government Legal Department.
In addition to oral advocacy, Max developed a strong written advocacy practice; instructed to draft detailed pleadings and advisory documents, including fraud defences, Part 35 questions, and written submissions.
Alongside his practice, he has delivered training sessions and regularly advised fee earners on both a formal and informal basis. He is known for his personable, pragmatic approach and his ability to provide clear and practical guidance.
Outside of work, Max is a keen runner and enjoys spending time outdoors with his young family.
