1. Please tell us a bit about yourself, your job and where in the world you work.
I am a currently a Senior Paralegal in the Belfast Real Estate team at DWF. Soon I will be joining the Dispute Resolution team as a Trainee Solicitor.
2. What key industries/sectors do you work with?
Currently in role within the Real Estate team my work varies day to day. I could be working on the sale of a new build site for a developer one day and then working on the acquisition of a shopping centre the next! No day is the same in Real Estate but I am excited to explore a whole new area of work within Dispute Resolution.
3. What do you enjoy most about your job?
I have to say what I enjoy the most is the people that I work with. I feel extremely lucky that not only do I work with a great team but also anyone who I have ever dealt with in DWF have all been extremely helpful and kind.
4. What makes Belfast unique compared to other locations?
Belfast is known for its vibrant culture, lively student scene and it's a foodie's dream! Belfast has an array of unique bars from some of the oldest bars in the Ireland to the tallest bar in Ireland. For live music lovers, Belfast has a host of bars within our Cathedral Quarter which play to host to talented to traditional Irish musicians and for the foodies out there St George's Market is an absolute must visit!
What really makes Belfast unique is the size. Belfast is a small city in comparison to the rest of the UK capital cities but this further enriches our sense of community, dynamic culture and friendliness.
5. What piece of advice would you give to an early career professional looking to work in Belfast?
My one piece of advice for anyone wanting to relocate to Belfast would be to ensure that you get involved with the local social scene. There are so many networking opportunities to socialise and easily make friends.
6. If a member of Link from another country was coming to visit you, where would you take them?
As Northern Ireland is so small, you are able to travel to each end of the country within a couple of hours. Due to this I would definitely say a trip up to the North Coast would be first on my list. The North Coast has some spectacular views, amazing food and lovely bars. A trip to the Giant's Causeway is definitely required when up there also!
7. If you could work anywhere else in the world where would it be?
Definitely New York! I've been fortunate to visit twice and it has to be my favourite city in the world (so far!).
