3 DWF rising stars short-listed for Lawyers Weekly '30 under 30' awards

26 March 2019
DWF is delighted to announce the inclusion of 3 of its rising young stars in the annual Lawyers Weekly list of 30 Under 30 honourees list.

The Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 is Australia’s largest independent awards program that recognises excellence in young lawyers — those who are raising the bar on what it means to be a leader for the next generation.

Newcastle-based Alexander Wheeler has been named a finalist in the Real Estate area whilst Sydney-based Matthew Hannam has been acknowledged in the Banking and Finance space and Alex McLeod, also based in Sydney, has been recognised for his outstanding work for clients in the Construction and Infrastructure, Government, Projects, Energy and Resources practice.

Mark Hickey, Chairman of DWF Asia Pacific, said: "We are pleased that 3 of our team members have been recognised in the Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Best Lawyers listings across such diverse practice areas. We continue to attract top talent to our rapidly expanding local business, and I consider Alexander, Matthew and Alex to be exemplary future leaders”

“Each year, the number of entries for 30 Under 30 grows, meaning it’s no easy feat in securing a finalist position. By doing so, you have demonstrated professional excellence and positioned yourself among the go-to lawyers in your practice area,” Lawyers Weekly editor Emma Ryan said.

“With such vast competition among Australia’s legal community, we’re proud to provide a platform to recognise the young lawyers who are going above and beyond for their clients and the community at large.

“On behalf of the entire Lawyers Weekly team, I’d like to congratulate you on your success. We look forward to celebrating with you soon and wish you all the very best of luck on the night.”

The winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony on 10 May at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth.

*As of 1 February, DWF Australia became an Incorporated Legal Practice (ILP). Under this new corporate structure, the title of partner has changed to principal lawyer.
