Experience

Rosie heads DWF’s international Healthcare team and has more than 25 years’ experience advising healthcare professionals, organisations, membership bodies and insurers across the full spectrum of healthcare law. Her practice encompasses healthcare regulatory and disciplinary proceedings, clinical negligence, inquests, appeals and judicial review, complaints and public inquiries.

Rosie has particular expertise in complex, high-profile and sensitive regulatory matters. She regularly represents doctors, dentists, optometrists and other healthcare professionals in investigations and proceedings before the GMC/MPTS, GDC, GOC, HCPC and other professional regulators. She conducts her own advocacy at interim order hearings and also advises healthcare professionals facing disciplinary and performance proceedings within the NHS.

Her experience includes representing a doctor in the longest-running GMC case in history, arising from the controversy surrounding the MMR vaccine (GMC v Professor Simon Murch), and advising a doctor involved in the Infected Blood Inquiry. She also acted in the notable case of Dr MN v NHS Foundation Trust L, which proceeded to the Court of Appeal.

Alongside her regulatory practice, Rosie has extensive experience defending clinical negligence claims and advising on the wider legal, reputational and professional issues that can arise when clinical claims, regulatory investigations, disciplinary proceedings, inquests and complaints overlap.

Rosie is recognised for bringing together deep sector knowledge with strategic insight gained from more than two decades working exclusively with healthcare clients, enabling her to advise on matters ranging from individual professional representation to complex cases involving multiple legal and regulatory jurisdictions.
