Experience

Lisa is an experienced litigator having worked for more than 25 years in the legal profession and 15 years PQE, advising clients in highly litigious and complex matters; and she has, over the last 25 years, dealt with both Defence and Plaintiff type actions. Lisa has experience working in all areas of litigation including Professional Indemnity disputes, Personal Injury Actions arising from employers liability, public liability and motor liability, Commercial Disputes, breach of contract claims, contentious debt recovery, Employment matters, Landlord and Tenant disputes, and Licensing. Lisa has years of experience working with Insurance Companies & Lloyd's Syndicates, Public and State Bodies, and Commercial & Private Clients.

She has vast experience in defending professional indemnity claims on behalf of a wide variety of professionals and their professional indemnity insurers. She acts as a panel defence solicitor for the insurers of professional indemnity schemes written in both Ireland and the UK. She endeavours to undertake an early analysis of the claim with a view to considering strategy and to providing the professional and their insurers with advice regarding early resolution options where possible, managing the stresses of the case upon the client, and being cost conscious at all times.

Lisa has had a number of recent successful strike out applications before the Courts and is actively issuing a number of further strike out applications in light of the recent Supreme Court judgment of Kirwan v Connors [2025] and she is hopeful she will achieve similar success for her professional and insurer clients. She now specialises in Professional Indemnity Claims in particular representing Accountants, Architects, Contractors, Financial Advisors, Insurance Brokers, Solicitors, and Surveyors, as well as a vast variety of other professions in the defence of claims/complaints made against them. Lisa also advises Insurers on subrogation claims and any Policy Coverage or Policy Application disputes.

In addition, Lisa previously worked as a Senior Solicitor in the Litigation Department in another Irish Law Firm for over 20 years prior to joining DWF and also gained 12 months experience in Intellectual Property law prior to joining DWF. She practices at all court levels but in particular in the Circuit Court and High Court, Commercial Court, and Court of Appeal. She also has experience in dealing with Judicial Review actions.

Lisa's dispute resolution experience focuses on Settlement Negotiations, Mediations, and Arbitrations.

  • Lisa has successfully defended a €5.2 million claim against a firm of solicitors in a professional negligence claim by issuing a strike out application where the case was struck out on the basis that the Court found the case to an abuse of process, unfounded and bound to fail
  • Lisa has successfully negotiated a settlement for a professional negligence claim against a prominent Architect's firm who were appointed by the plaintiff to design, inspect, and certify, an extension. With a strong defence and a very strong expert report in support of the client, the claim was successfully negotiated down from €350,000 to €30,000
  • Lisa has successfully defended a professional negligence claim for €370,000 against a prominent Architect's firm where it was alleged that the Architect's Opinion on Compliance was negligent and misleading. A Notice of Discontinuance was agreed on foot of a strike out application issued by Lisa, on the basis that the Claimants had delayed in progressing proceedings and that said delay was inexcusable and resulted in damage to our client
