Our Complex Commercial Dispute Resolution team provides expertise across a wide range of areas, including:

Our sector-based approach gives us a much deeper insight into the challenges you face, enabling us to advise you in critical areas relating specifically to your business: Our eight key sectors are:

Insurance
For insurance clients, we manage all forms of disputes, from strategic and reputational disputes to those arising from every day business. We frequently also advise on risk management and dispute avoidance strategies. Disputes typically include: tax and finance cases, fraud, post-transaction work, IT software disputes, commercial contracts disputes, debt collection and enforcement work.
Financial Services
We advise on all types of disputes, including asset, consumer and motor finance, general banking and secured lending covering the recovery of unsecured and secured debt, guarantee claims, satisfactory quality and conversion claims, defended mortgage repossession work, LPA receivership, title defects, subrogation, mortgage fraud, land registry adjudication, professional negligence claims, compensation fund applications, operational loss work (including litigation regarding terms and conditions, breach of mandate, conversion, fraud, and payment by mistake claims) and disputes about financial products.
Real Estate
In the real estate sector, we provide advice on all property issues. This includes commercial and residential lease disputes (dilapidations, service charge disputes, rent reviews, rent arrears, 1954 Act), restrictive covenants, rights of way, rights to light, boundary disputes, trespass, nuisance, possession claims, injunctions, insolvency related disputes and professional negligence and real estate litigation.
Energy and Natural Resources
In the energy sector, we advise oil, gas and power companies in all disputes of their operations. These range from JOA disputes between parties, PPA disputes for power generation, maritime and boundary issues. We also advise on disputes between host states, energy services companies and disputes over complex energy infrastructure (refineries, power stations, oil and gas field infrastructure).
Consumer

Our Consumer team understands the risks and challenges that the consumer sector faces in this highly regulated environment.

Our team provide leading dispute resolution services to manufacturers, distributors, and retailers of all types, as well as diverse suppliers of consumer services. The team also take a holistic approach including reputation management, risk assessment and dispute strategy consulting.

We provide first class service defending claims against all businesses in the chain of commerce for consumer products including suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers and consumer services such as call centres, warranty providers and e-commerce sites.

Government and Public Sector
For our government and public sector clients, we advise on procurement challenges, distribution and supply contracts, corporate and company law, professional negligence, common and civil law and all aspects of real estate litigation.
Technology Media and Communications

We help clients find solutions to problematic projects, whether that means a transition, a complete exit on agreed terms, a renegotiation or ultimately a formal process of dispute resolution.

We have an experienced team of technology litigators supported by transactional lawyers who work with our clients in order to find and implement business and legal solutions to get projects back on track. We understand the complexities of an IT project: in particular, the relationship between a supplier and a customer and, very importantly, the relationships within your own organisation and how the senior management, commercial, legal and project communities interact with each other.

Cyber security and data protection problems create fertile ground for large scale litigation and also low value, high volume individual claims. Our experience in these areas is unique. As successful defence solicitors on the first and largest data protection group litigation cases to hit the UK courts, we can provide all clients with unrivalled experience and the confidence they need in 'class action' situations. Our experience not only covers the handling of mass claims but all stages of the process – from initial 'pre-litigation' intimation of claims all the way through to representation in the Supreme Court.

Transport
We provide advice and manage disputes in connection with all aspects of the transport sector in relation to the transport of goods by rail, road, air and sea. We regularly advise clients in connection with transactions and/or disputes pertaining to the construction of roadways, railways, airports and ports including ancillary and supporting facilities and infrastructure, as well as on cargo and supply chain issues, ship groundings and collisions, pollution and contamination claims. We also advise clients in connection with regulatory, procurement, compliance and insurance matters relating to the various modes of transport.
