Zonal is a Scottish family business with more than 45 years of history and a long-established presence in the UK hospitality and leisure market. The business has been a client of DWF's for more than 20 years, during which time DWF has also advised on a number of Zonal’s bolt-on acquisitions as the business expanded its product offering and market reach.
The DWF team advising on the transaction was led by corporate partner Alasdair Peacock and director Gemma Gallagher and included senior associate Siobhan McKenna, associate Hope Donnachie and solicitor Abby Shaw. Tax advice was provided by partner Caroline Colliston and senior associate Zita Dempsey. Real estate advice was provided by partner Robin Watt and solicitor James Murray, while banking advice was provided by director Alan Glen.
The acquisition further strengthens Volaris’ presence in the hospitality and retail technology sectors.
Alasdair Peacock commented: “Zonal is a standout Scottish technology business with a proud heritage and a clear focus on its people and customers. Having worked with the company for many years, it has been a privilege to support Stuart and the shareholder group on this important milestone. The transaction reflects the strength of the business and provides an excellent platform for its next phase of growth.”
Stuart McLean, CEO of Zonal, said: “DWF has supported Zonal for more than two decades and has been alongside us through many key stages of our growth. Their understanding of the business, our culture and our long-term ambitions was invaluable throughout this process. The team worked seamlessly with our advisers at Johnston Carmichael to deliver what is a landmark transaction for Zonal, and I’m hugely grateful for their commitment and advice.”
