Employers will be under a new duty to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace from 26 October 2024 under the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023.  We are running roundtables in London, Newcastle, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Birmingham on the key considerations for employers and the wider implications for businesses.

The roundtable will ensure that not only are you prepared for the new duty, but also allow you to explore how this is an opportunity to reframe the requirements as a platform to demonstrate a holistic, coherent approach to sustainable business practices including protection of human rights, commitments to sustainable development goals and activation of your sustainability strategy.

Key issues for discussion include:

  • The new duty to prevent sexual harassment and what active steps employers need to take to comply – we will ask:  How much is enough?  From culture and behaviour risk assessments, to refreshing policies, procedures and governance frameworks, to incorporating preventative and detective controls, including education programmes to raise awareness and upskill line managers on intervention and response skills and capabilities.
  • Silence isn't always golden – are reporting channels and whistleblowing frameworks up to the required standard?  What place, if any, do non-disclosure agreements have?  What is the future of non-disclosure agreements?
  • The importance of cultivating a positive culture to help prevent workplace bullying and harassment.  We will examine why and how curating a safe place to work is a critical step to protecting human rights and dignity in the workplace, activating your DE&I strategy and the impact of getting it wrong.
