Created by the Social Mobility Foundation, the Social Mobility Employer Index is a list of the top 75 performing employers on social mobility this year. Applicants are ranked on actions they are taking to ensure they are open to accessing and progressing talent from all backgrounds.
DWF’s strategy for social mobility cascades throughout the entire organisation. Measures taken to improve social mobility within Early Careers include giving clear guidance with mock tasks at each stage, using inclusive assessment methods such as strengths-based interviews, tracking career outcomes for graduate positions in England and Scotland with Rare’s Contextual Recruitment System, targeting young people in social mobility cold areas, and offering level 3, 4 or 6 apprenticeships for school and college leavers.
This work is supported by a number of external partners, including Business In The Community (BITC), and Uptree, as well as in-house by the business’s school engagement programme, 5 STAR Futures
Seema Bains, partner and Head of DWF’s Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Group, said: “It’s an honour for DWF to be included in the index yet again. We pride ourselves on providing our candidates and employees with the best opportunities and we’re proud to see this reflected in our high ranking this year. We will continue to build on this, to create a more inclusive environment across the legal profession and beyond."
