Emma is a Senior Associate in DWF's Insurance team and is based in Newcastle, Australia.

Experience

Emma is an experienced insurance litigator specialising in the defence of public liability, professional indemnity and medical negligence claims on behalf of international and domestic insurers, and self-insured corporates and associations.  She also regularly advises on policy coverage and dual insurance.

Emma has defended claims on behalf of a wide range of insureds, including occupiers of commercial premises, licensed venues, hoteliers, a variety of construction contractors and subcontractors, security companies, local councils, sporting organisations, schools, managing agents, commercial cleaners, aged care and disability support providers, medical practitioners and allied health professionals.  Emma primarily practices in New South Wales and the ACT, however has experience practicing in most Australian jurisdictions.

Emma prioritises adherence to service standards and focusses on delivering effective commercial solutions for clients.

Acting for head contractors and subcontractors in respect of a wide range of multi-party, high quantum claims arising from injuries sustained on construction sites.  These matters often involve workers compensation recoveries, contractual disputes and insurance issues.

Acting for security contractors and subcontractors in relation to intentional torts and negligence claims.

Acting for local councils in relation to a wide range of personal injury claims including trip and falls and accidents at road works sites.

Acting for sporting organisations in relation to injuries sustained by both players and spectators, often involving formulating obvious risk, waiver and dangerous recreational activity arguments.

Acting for aged care providers in relation to coronial inquests and negligence claims.

Acting for allied health providers including radiology practices and pharmacists.

Acting for homeowners in relation to occupier's liability claims, including injuries arising from dog bites.
