In response to the client need, DWF, the global provider of integrated legal and business services, has established a new Personal Data Protection, Cybersecurity and Technology Compliance practice in Poland led by incoming Partner Gerard Karp and two experienced Counsels, Marian Giersz and Paweł Dudojc.
Gerard Karp is an advocate specialising in personal data protection, IT, and electronic communication. His longstanding experience has seen him advise clients on diverse and complex aspects at the intersection of internet law, IT, privacy rights and the broadly defined digital market. Gerard, for the last 15 years, has advised the largest national and international entities on key projects regarding personal data protection, e-commerce, IT and cloud solutions. He was responsible for conducting some of the largest GDPR implementation projects in Central and Eastern Europe.
Over the last years Gerard was consecutively recommended in personal data protection by the most prestigious rankings as Chambers and Legal500. He was also distinguished as a leader in the field of personal data protection in the 2021 edition of the Rzeczpospolita ranking. Gerard is also the author of several publications and studies in this field.
Marian Giersz advises clients on privacy protection, telecommunication law and new technologies. In recent years, he has conducted several complex GDPR implementations combining legal, technological and security aspects. He designed and oversaw development of software supporting clients in paperless projects. He advised international financial institutions on the implementation of group privacy protection standards in dozens of jurisdictions. He also advised public institutions and financial institutions in connection with the implementation of services using e-Identity or biometric data. For years he has been advising telecommunication operators and VOD providers on all regulatory issues.
Paweł Dudojc specialises in Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC), Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) as well as new technologies. He has experience in designing and implementing GRC and ESG systems, as well as their evaluation. His advisory area covers a wide range of issues in this field, such as new technologies (e.g. Blockchain, AI, financial technologies), data protection and cyber security, whistleblowing, AML/CFT, anti- corruption, due diligence including protection against personal liability.
